Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I don’t know about you, but during this past year there have been many things that have happened in my life that have made it difficult to be obedient to the above scripture. Then I remember another scripture, “The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey.” (Joshua 24:24) and in my heart I always want to obey the Lord.

So….no matter what is going on in my life--or the life of someone I love--I am called to walk in joy and thanksgiving. The Bible is filled with scriptures that tell us to walk in thanksgiving. We should make it a habit to read and mediate on these scriptures not just at Thanksgiving but all year long. One scripture that comes to mind is, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name.” Psalm 100: 4 (NLT) There is a song that is one of my favorites. I would like to share some of the words with you. Give thanks with a grateful hear. Give thanks to the Holy One. Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son. And now, let the weak say, “I am strong,” Let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us.” Give thanks. (Author-Henry Smith)

God has been so good and faithful to me no matter is happening with me or the circumstances surrounding my life. I am called by God to walk in praise and thanksgiving and it has changed my life and filled my heart with joy. It can do the same for you. Happy Thanksgiving!!

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19, 20
